Bats in Illinois
Most bats in Illinois are little brown bats, that are about 2 – 4 inches long with a wingspan of about 12 inches. They prefer homes with small openings, so they are protected from predators. The bats tend to enter your home through the attic vents, chimneys, or other small openings near the roof. They need to hibernate in the winter and will return to the same place every year, if they can.

This will also give you insight into basic maintenance and repairs that will likely need to be done to prevent the bats from returning. We will also look for guano, so we can determine where they have been nesting.
- Installing one-way doors: A one way door, also called a bat cone, will be installed on all points of entry. This will allow the bats to exit your home, but will prevent them from returning. Typically, there is one main point of entry, but we do want to cover any area that looks suspicious. The bat cone will stay in place for about two weeks to ensure all bats have vacated the premises.
- Sealing any entry points: Effectively getting rid of bats means preventing them from returning. That is why sealing any and every nook and cranny is vital to the process. We will repair damaged vents and seal gaps around common problem areas.
- Clean up: Cleaning and deodorizing areas where the bats were nesting will prevent them and other animals from being attracted to the contaminated area. In addition, it will prevent any potential spread of disease to you and your family.
