Why I, Michael J. Bishop, started MJB Home Improvement
I’m Michael J. Bishop and ever since I was a kid playing and building with Lincoln Logs and Legos, I knew construction was what I wanted to do with my life. There is a satisfaction in building something or restoring something. I enjoy seeing the progress from start to finish and perfecting it along the way. I especially enjoy knowing that my work is going to make a positive difference for someone’s home and for their life.
I started MJB Home Improvement, so I could use my passion and my experience to help my clients make their house into a home. I have over 15 years of experience in residential construction and project management. But, my education started long before then. My father was a structural engineer and began teaching me about residential construction at a very early age. Now I get to use all of that knowledge and experience to create amazing indoor and outdoor spaces for people in McHenry County.
My approach to working with clients
The most important thing to me is listening, considering, and meeting the customer’s needs and desires for their project. I want to know what they don’t like about the space, how they use the space, and what they envision for the space. I always work closely with my clients throughout the process to make sure they are the primary decision makers about design options and details of the project. I never want to walk away from a project with a dissatisfied customer.
I will make recommendations on design, materials, and other aspects of the project. My clients need to be fully informed about all their options and how their decisions will affect the look and functionality of the space and the budget. In the end, MJB Home Improvement will make sure you are provided with the expertise and customer service that will make your project an exciting journey.
Other interesting things about me
In my spare time I love spending the day with my incredible wife and our crazy-smart border collie ‘Fisher’ who could play frisbee all day if we let her. We are very close with family and love our many nieces and nephews. I love to fish, kayak, scuba-dive and grow fruits & veggies on our property.
